MS Dhoni was undoubtedly one of the greatest captains of all time. Ever since he became the captain of the Indian cricket team, the team was in safe hands. Not only did the team win more bilateral series but also had the urge to win big honours.

It was under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Team India went on to win three ICC titles. Thus MS Dhoni became the first captain to have led the team to three different ICC trophies namely ICC T20 World Cup 2007, ICC ODI World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013.

Besides that, he also established himself as one of the most successful captains in the history of the Indian Premier League. Under his captaincy, Chennai Super Kings became a phenomenal force to be reckoned with in the T20 competition.

Chennai Super Kings have won four titles and two Champions League titles under the tutelage of MS Dhoni.

When MS Dhoni Fooled Ricky Ponting In An ODI Match

During the CB series between India and Australia, MS Dhoni once fooled Ricky Ponting and the old video clip has been doing the rounds on the internet. When Ricky Ponting was the captain of the Australian cricket team, he was trying to set field placement for MS Dhoni.

In fact, as many as eight fielders were placed on the off-side in order to prevent MS Dhoni from scoring runs. Mitchell Johnson was instructed to bowl in and around the off stump such that they could mount pressure on MS Dhoni.

As it turned out, MS Dhoni superbly caressed the ball towards the leg side. Ricky Ponting and the other Australians in the match were taken aback by MS Dhoni’s response as the batter came down the track and nudged it towards the leg side for runs. Well, it was the wicketkeeper, Adam Gilchrist who had to chase the ball.
