Before Babar Azam became the batting sensation in Pakistan, there was another name that was making waves. Ahmed Shehzad, who was being hailed as one of the most promising batsmen of his time, has vanished from the international scene.

Ahmed Shehzad Was Dropped From Pak Squad

There was a time when he was even being compared to the likes of Virat Kohli and was touted to be the next big thing in Pakistan, however, due to his inconsistency and injury troubles, he has been out of international action in 2019.

Recently, in an interview, Shehzad slammed former Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis for an incident that took place in 2016, which he termed as the reason for hampering his career. It was in 2016 when Waqar Younis submitted a report to the PCB, wherein he stated that Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal needed to return back to domestic cricket and work hard to earn their place back in the squad. Shehzad was deeply hurt by this and accused the fast bowler of not saying this to him on face. He said:

“I have not seen the report myself, but a PCB official told me that these remarks have been said regarding me. But I believe that these things should be discussed face-to-face, and I am ready to take on that challenge. Then we will see who is right and who is wrong. Their words hurt my career, especially since I was not allowed to present my case. This was a pre-planned approach, and they wanted to kill two birds with one stone,”

Shehzad Gave Example Of Dhoni And Kohli

Further, he also went on to say that in Pakistan no senior players support upcoming cricketers the way Dhoni supported Virat Kohli and other players. He said:

“I have said this before, and I will say it again, Kohli’s career picked off amazingly because he found MS Dhoni but unfortunately, here in Pakistan, your people cannot stand your success. Our senior players and ex-cricketers cannot digest seeing someone succeed in the cricketing world, which is unfortunate for Pakistan cricket,”

But He Is Getting Trolled

He also revealed how he still receives love and support from the fans. He said:

“Cricket fans who usually meet me tell that they’ve stopped watching cricket while some say Pakistan Cricket was better when I was playing. I will keep working hard to represent Pakistan once again until cricket fans are behind me.”

Meanwhile, his last statement didn’t go down well with the fans as it attracted some hilarious replies from the fans.
