Prithvi Shaw, who was once regarded as the next big thing in Indian cricket, has seen his stocks incur a dramatic fall over the last few years. Prithvi is the youngest Indian batter to score a Test century on his debut (at 18), however, he hasn’t had a fruitful career with Team India. But because of injuries, controversies, disciplinary issues, and technical faults, Prithvi never had a long run in any format of the game. So far, he has just played 5 Tests, 6 ODIs, and a single T20I match.
After staying away from the national squad since the 2021 Sri Lanka tour, Prithvi Shaw made his comeback in the T20I side last year for the home series against New Zealand, however, he didn’t get a game. The young cricketer was neither considered for the ongoing West Indies series nor for the upcoming Asian Games.
Prithvi Shaw Opened Up About Getting Axed From Team India Squad
Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw, who is currently at a crucial stage of his career, opened up about getting axed from the Team India squad. He said that he doesn’t know the reason he was dropped from the T20I team without getting a game. He said:
“When I was dropped, I didn’t get to know the reason. Someone was saying it could be fitness. But of course, I came here (in Bengaluru) and cleared all the tests at the NCA, again scored runs, and again came back to the T20 team. But again didn’t get a chance in the West Indies. I’m disappointed but you just have to move forward. I can’t do anything, I can’t fight with anyone,”
Further, the Delhi Capitals batter also opened up on the mental battle that he had to go through especially as he doesn’t have many friends to share his thoughts with. He said:
“As a person, I just like to be in my own zone. People say a lot of things about me. But those who know me, know how I am. I don’t have friends, I don’t like to make friends. This is what’s happening with this generation. You can’t share your thoughts with anyone else. If you ask me personally, it’s very scary. Darr lagta hai aajkal to share my thoughts. Agle din social media mein aa jaata hai(I’m scared to share my thoughts. Somehow all of it comes up on social media). I’ve very less friends, only a couple of friends, and even with them I don’t share everything, only a few things”
