If you are an Ashwin fan or love to see Ravindra Jadeja in action then of course you would have only been disappointed to see them out of action for a long while. They did not even make it to the One Day team that hosts New Zealand.
But there’s some good news for their fans! Both Ashwin and Jadeja are highly expected to be called back for the T20 series against the Kiwis and then the test series against Sri Lanka. So, are you happy for them now? They have been given some abrupt run for their place by the young duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Chahal who’ve bend winning hearts with their wrist spin.
India has had a prolonged and tiring home season. India has been playing incessantly since the Champions Trophy and the selectors would also want to think about taking off some work load from the hard working captain’s shoulders.
There’s been a rotation policy undertaken by the team management in terms of players but Virat Kohli’s presence at the helm has been constant. After the New Zealand ODI series comes to an end Virat would have played 23 One Day Internationals, 3 T20s and 3 tests since June m, 2017.
The team management would surely be thinking of giving him the well deserved rest before India advances for the hard South African challenge. Kohli can either be rested in the T20 series against New Zealand or the T20 series against Sri Lanka and in such a case Rohit Sharma would lead the men in blue. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has been a regular feature in the limited overs too would be looking forward to some well deserved rest.
Coming back to talks about the Test Squad the Management has kept Jadeja and Ashwin neglected for three consecutive ODI series with Sri Lanka, Australia and now New Zealand but not they are most likely to make a comeback.
Jadeja while ignored by the team management went on to give a stylish statement with a double hundred in a Ranji game for Saurashtra and even had wickets to his kitty.
Others in the test squad would include Cheteshwar Pujara, Wriddhiman Saha, K L Rahul and Murali Vijay if he is fit. Besides these the speedsters Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav too are likely to be seen in action in longer version of the game.
Ashish Nehra who is all set to hang his boots on November 1 after an inspiring career will be replaced be either Jaydev Unadkat or Basil Thampi for the remaining games.
