Ravi Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan, who is very active on social media took a dig at the Indian team management after they decided not to include off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in their XI once again. Ravi Ashwin was kept waiting to get his first opportunity in the ongoing Test series as India decided to go with the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as the lone spinning option.

Though, India did decently well with 4 seamers in the first 2 Tests, but Ashwin’s absence was badly felt in the 3rd Test match when India was struggling to pick wickets. In the 4th Test match at the Oval, it was expected that Ravi Ashwin will be included in the squad for the 4th Test match. However, fans were left in shock once again after Ashwin was not among those who came into the Indian side on Thursday.

India decided to bring seamers Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur, who replaced Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma as Virat Kohli continued to back his aggressive 4-seamers strategy.

Meanwhile, not many were impressed with the decision of Virat Kohli and the team management. A number of fans, celebrities, experts, and cricketers took to their Twitter and criticized the team’s decision to not play Ashwin in the 4th Test.

Among many, Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan took a dig at Virat Kohli and team management. She took to her Twitter and shared a video of her daughter searching for Ashwin in the middle. Sharing the video, Prithi wrote:

Earlier, during the press conference, while announcing the changes in the squad, Virat reasoned that left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja is as good an option against 4 left-handers in the English line-up. He had said:

“Two changes – Ishant and Shami have niggles – Umesh and Shardul are back. For us, it’s about partnerships, we can’t focus too much on individuals. England has four left-handers, so a good match-up for Jadeja, with our seamers bowling over the wicket. Also factors in his balance at No.7. The opening partnership has been amazing for us, it’s about getting together as batsmen. A few days left on this tour, the series is poised beautifully, and no shortage of effort, for sure,”
