RCB vs MI: A Fan Paid A Heart-Winning Tribute To ‘King’ Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli lit up M. Chinnaswamy Stadium with his fireworks: The victory of RCB over MI was spectacular. The final score was 8 wickets for RCB and 22 balls to spare. With Faf du Plessis scoring 73 runs off of 43 balls, star batter Virat Kohli forged a big opening partnership of 143 runs. Virat Kohli’s tumultuous 82-run performance included six fours and five sixes off of 49 balls.

From the outset of the run chase, RCB dominated MI. Despite MI enlisting the services of Jofra Archer and Jason Behrendorff, who both have solid records with the new ball, Faf and Virat displayed a great deal of courage. Every bowler was smashed around the pitch except Piyush Chawla.

Mark Boucher, the head coach of MI, has gotten off to a dreadful start in the Indian Premier League. Players like Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma, who were brought in at the beginning of the innings, should have shown more maturity and restrained themselves from taking risky strokes. Tilak Varma‘s knock was the high point for MI, as he smashed 84 runs (including 9 fours and 4 sixes) in 46 balls to propel MI’s tally to 171-7.

Faf du Plessis, captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, couldn’t have wished for a better start to the season. The batting lineup was stymied by Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj, who bowled pinpoint lines and lengths. RCB has to ride the wave of their recent victories.

I thought it was a phenomenal win- Virat Kohli

Following the game, Virat Kohli was questioned about the victory and the team’s play. He also spoke highly of the rookie batting sensation Tilak Varma.

“I thought it was a phenomenal win, a homecoming after 4 years. Couldn’t have asked for a better game. We bowled well for the first 17 overs but then credit to their batters especially Tilak who batted really well. It was a very comprehensive win and we wanted to win with balls to spare as it will benefit the NRR,” said Virat Kohli.

“The new ball was tricky, that’s where we shifted the momentum, they can ride on that momentum from the last two overs of their batting but the way we started nullified all that momentum. We kept the pressure on the bowlers. Phenomenal, it was a packed crowd, every seat was full when we walked in here. Very important we started off well, their support propelled us and that makes a massive difference,” he stated.

“I think Karn Sharma was phenomenal, phenomenal spell from him, that’s brave bowling after getting the left-hander out. He was bowling so well for us last year but he couldn’t play. Even in the nets he was not getting hit for sixes, hats off to him for coming and playing after so long, to perform against such a strong MI side at the Chinnaswamy is great for him,” Virat Kohli added.

“I wanted to mention this for a while – after MI who have 5 titles and CSK who have 4, if I’m not wrong, we are the third team to have qualified the most times to the playoffs – 8 times. Take one game at a time and try to be a balanced side which we are and we would look to execute our plans as we did tonight,” Virat Kohli concluded.
