“I have never seen…” Sachin Reveals Emotional Truth After Son Arjun Tendulkar Debuts For MI

Son of legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun Tendulkar made his much-awaited IPL debut on Sunday, against Kolkata Knight Riders, at the Wankhede stadium.

The Tendulkars, Sachin, and Arjun, thus became the first-ever father-son pair to have played in the IPL.

A left-arm swing bowler, Arjun Tendulkar bowled a 2-over spell with the new ball. He was impressive with some swing movement he got with the new ball and returned with figures of 0/17. He didn’t get to bowl later on.

After the match, sitting in the dugout, Sachin Tendulkar made a startling revelation about his emotions behind Arjun Tendulkar playing cricket.

While when as a player Sachin always kept his emotions behind, regarding Arjun, his son, he couldn’t. So to not let Arjun get distracted whenever he played, Sachin revealed he never went to see Arjun play!

Even on Sunday, on Arjun’s debut, Sachin didn’t sit in the MI dugout near the boundary line which he generally does, but was in the dressing room. He said that Arjun might get distracted from the game if they showed him on the giant screen watching his son.

“This was a new experience for me. Till now, I have not actually gone and watched him play,” Sachin said in a video posted on IPL Twitter handle.

“I just wanted him to have that freedom to go out and express himself whatever he wanted to do. And today also I sat in the dressing room because I didn’t want him to let him move away from his plans and start looking at the mega screen here and suddenly realised that I was watching there. I was inside,” he added.

“It’s a different feeling because 2008 was the first season for me and 16 years down the line, he plays for the same team. Not bad.”

Arjun had received his debut cap from captain Rohit Sharma.

“It was a great moment, special to play for them I have supported since 2008, and it was very nice to get the cap from MI and the Indian team,” said Arjun.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 5 wickets as Venkatesh Iyer’s century went in vain.
