India’s death bowling has improved a lot in the last couple of years and Jasprit Bumrah has played a big part in it. Bumrah is a death over specialist and a brilliant yorker exponent. He came to limelight after his match-winning performances for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His unorthodox action and good accuracy impressed the selectors and fans, and he was soon picked to play international cricket for India.
Since his debut, Jasprit Bumrah has been India’s ‘go-to’ man in the death overs. His ability to stay cool and delivery consecutive yorkers is a big asset for India. And, this is one of the biggest reasons why India have been comparatively better in the last 12 months or so, as far run flow in death overs is concerned.
New Zealand A’s head coach and one of the best fast bowlers in cricket history, Shane Bond said that he is never going to be tired of praising Jasprit Bumrah, even if it makes him sound repetitive. Bond and Bumrah have spent a lot of time together in the IPL, as both them are part of Mumbai Indians camp.
“I am never going to be tired of praising him even if I repeat myself. He is probably the best (in India) to bowl the pressure overs because he has got exceptional skills and an amazing temperament,” New Zealand A’s head coach Shane Bond was quoted as saying by Livemint.
Shane Bond also said that Jasprit Bumrah will play Test cricket and attain success across all three formats of the game. Bond said that Bumrah is not just about yorkers and variations as he can bowl a good length ball and get a nick off batsmen as well. He also added that his ability to get batsmen out edging behind the wicket is the biggest improvement in his bowling.
“There is little doubt about him being a world-class white-ball bowler and I do think he will play Test cricket and can sustain success across all formats. It’s not only about yorkers and slower balls anymore. He can bowl a good length ball and get a nick off you as well, which is the biggest improvement in his bowling,” Shane Bond added.
