Shubman Gill had a remarkable start to his captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Leading Gujarat Titans for the first time, he guided them to an exciting victory over Mumbai Indians, who are five-time champions, in the fifth game of IPL 2024.
Gill showed impressive calmness as he led his team to a hard-fought six-run victory against the strong Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Despite Mumbai Indians looking set for a win while chasing 169, Gujarat Titans, led by Gill, performed exceptionally well in the final overs to restrict them to 162 for 9.
Gill will now aim for another significant win when his team faces the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. While Gill hopes to avoid mistakes against the reigning champions, he made a funny blunder just before the match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Shubman Gill Made A Hilarious Mistake During The Toss
After winning the toss, Shubman Gill initially announced, “We will be batting first,” before humorously changing his decision, stating, “Sorry, bowl, bowl first.” CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was also seen chuckling at the error made by his India teammate.
Interestingly, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who also shares the opening partnership with Shubman in ODIs, is known for occasional forgetfulness. In an ODI match against New Zealand, Rohit once forgot his team’s decision at the toss, leading to a memorable 10-second pause before recollecting it.
