Video: Smriti Mandhana Hilariously Trolls Jemimah With “Overacting” Comment

Senior Indi women’s team opener and vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, hilariously trolled teammate Jemimah Rodrigues, who had taken the role of a show host in the dressing room after India’s historic win over Australia women at the Wankhede stadium.

Led by the inspirational Harmanpreet Kaur, India women defeated Australia women for the first time in a Test match. All-rounder Sneh Rana bagged the Player of the Match award for her 7 wickets in the game.

Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain and opener, played two crucial innings. The elegant left-hander scored 74 off 106 balls in the first innings and was unbeaten on 38 runs in the second innings as India chased down the target of 75 runs with 8 wickets in hand.

In the dressing room then, youngster Jemimah Rodrigues led the celebration of this famous win by turning into an anchor and doing crisp interviews with the team players and coaches.

When she approached, Smriti Mandhana, the senior player funnily trolled Jemimah Rodrigues with a cheeky line.

Looking at the camera, Mandhana said: “Overacting ke paise kaato pehele iske (Cut her money for overacting).”

Jemimah, too, notched up a half-century, scoring 73 runs.

India were in command right from the first day of the Test. India bowled the visitors out for 219 with Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana sharing 7 wickets. In India’s first innings, three batters – Smriti Mandhana, Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma – raised fifties; all three scored between 70 and 80 as India piled up 406 runs.

Australia showed a fight in their second innings, scoring 269 runs in 105.4 overs, but couldn’t get a fighting lead. The target of 75 runs was chased down by India with 8 wickets in hand.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said in the post-match presentation: “It’s a reward for all the hard work and all the patience. We thought if we can play some positive cricket, it can really help us. We have been playing with this bunch for so many years and if we could do shuffle a bit here and there.”
