Sourav Ganguly Posted A Beautiful Message For R Ashwin On Twitter: Ravichandran Ashwin ended the decade by emerging out as one of the greatest of the games having an array of records under his name. R Ashwin finished the 2010s with some very impressive numbers as he became the highest wicket-taker in international matches.
R Ashwin has topped the list of the highest wicket-takers in the 2010s, having taken 564 wickets across all the formats of the game. He is followed by England’s pace duo of James Anderson (535) and Stuart Broad (525), who finished at numbers 2 and 3 respectively. With 472 wickets, Tim Paine ended up with the fourth position. Trent Boult capped the Top 5 on the list with 458 wickets.
Ever since he made his Test debut in 2011. R Ashwin has gone on to establish himself as one of the most prolific bowlers in the world. He has always helped the Indian team in tough situations by taking wickets at crucial moments. Ashwin became the seventh cricketer to have picked a five-wicket haul on Test debut. Not just this, but he also smashed a century in that match and won the player of the series award.
Besides this, R Ashwin is the fastest Indian bowler to reach 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 and 350 wickets in Test cricket.
The former Indian skipper and the new President of BCCI, Sourav Ganguly took to his twitter and hailed R Ashwin for finishing the decade as the highest wicket-taker in international cricket.
In his tweet, Sourav Ganguly posted a screenshot of ICC’s Instagram post revealing R Ashwin as the highest wicket-taker. Ganguly also wrote how the brilliance of R Ashwin goes unnoticed. He wrote:
“Most international wickets for ashwin this decade @ashwinravi99 @bcci .. what an effort .. just get a Feeling it goes unnoticed at times .. super stuff ..”
