Suresh Raina, who is in contention for the India A team, has yet again failed to pass the ‘yo yo’ fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will now have to go through the entire process again and it will only delay his comeback.
This is not the first time that Suresh Raina has failed this test but it’s the most shocking one because he has been working hard on his fitness and training under the watchful eyes of the National Cricket Academy coaching staff.
Suresh Raina has been out of favour for India cricket team because of his form but majorly fitness. The selectors wanted to test his fitness and form in the matches between India A and New Zealand A, but now that he has failed the test, it will only delay his comeback into national reckoning.
Times of India (TOI) reported that selectors had made up their mind to give a fair chance to Suresh Raina and it would have been a perfect opportunity for the southpaw. Selectors were looking at this series as an opportunity to try Raina and some other cricketers and take their case for a national comeback forward. But, the Uttar Pradesh batsman has missed yet another opportunity to make a national comeback.
However, the squad was announced on Monday and many young performers were included in it. As far as Suresh Raina is concerned, he will have to start from scratch again and keep working hard on his fitness. It will not be easy to take so many rejections but he will have to stay strong and focused.
We wish him all the best. Check out the squads here:
