Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina, who is hailed as one of the most underrated but greatest cricketers to play white-ball cricket in India, once again turned the clock back and left everyone in awe of him. Throughout his career for team India and CSK in Indian Premier League, Raina saved his teams both with the bat and his phenomenal fielding efforts. Raina made everyone nostalgic as he took a stunning diving catch to save vital runs for his side in the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup (KCC).

For the unversed, Raina was recently playing for Ganga Warriors in the Kannada Chalanachitra Cup (KCC), which is a two-day tournament starring tars from the Kannada film and television industries playing against each other. The tournament had 6 teams competing against each other, with former international cricketers up their ranks.

The incident took place during the summit clash when Raina bowled a back-of-the-length delivery which the batsman could not read, as he chipped the ball toward the non-striker’s end. Raina ran towards the ball and in his trademark style dived forward to take a terrific stunner of his own bowling.

Talking more about his comeback, apart from his stunning diving catch, Raina also contributed with the bat and the ball. He played a stunning knock of 54 from 29 deliveries in the summit clash, while also picking up 2 wickets with the ball. He received the man of the match award for his brilliant performance.

Suresh Raina announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020, the same day that MS Dhoni retired. In 2022, Raina announced his retirement from all formats of cricket.

Raina was only 32 years old when he announced the big news. Raina had been out-of-favor with the Indian team at the time and had made his last appearance for the Indian cricket team in 2018 during an ODI against England. His retirement at a relatively young age of 32 has left the fans stunned.
