MS Dhoni’s future with the Indian cricket team has become one of the most talked-about topics in the world. Suresh Raina, the discarded Indian batsman is the latest one from the cricket world to give his views on the ongoing debate regarding the cricketing career of MS Dhoni.
The rumors of MS Dhoni calling-off the game has been going around ever since India’s heartbreaking defeat in the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2020 against New Zealand, which was also the last International appearance of MS Dhoni. MS Dhoni took a long sabbatical after that and kept on extending it.
Suresh Raina feels that the Indian cricket team still needs MS Dhoni and his brilliance for the upcoming World Cup later this year. He also claimed that if MS Dhoni really wants to hang his boots, he will do that without making a big fuss about it. He said:
“Dhoni will probably be coming to Chennai in the first week of March to train ahead of the IPL. Right now, it is so good to see him spending a lot of time with his family. If he wants to leave the game, he will go without making a big fuss”
Suresh Raina stated that it is up to Virat to take a call to included MS Dhoni in the team for the upcoming World Cup. He said:
“I want to see him continue to play. He is looking fit and has been training hard. I still think the Indian team needs him. But it is Virat’s call on how they go forward,”
Suresh Raina also expressed his gratitude towards the skippers he has played under — Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni. He was all praises for both the former skippers. He said:
“For any newcomer, it is important to get a lot of opportunities. I was lucky to play under Rahul Dravid when I came in. He gave me a lot of opportunities. Then I played under MS Dhoni, who understood my game.”
