Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a golden duck by Rajasthan Royals’ Trent Boult. The cameraman then captured a sad reaction of Rohit’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, in the stands.
Mumbai hosted Rajasthan on Monday evening at the Wankhede stadium for MI’s first home game of the IPL 2024 season. MI had lost their first two matches, and the atmosphere was tense and heavy at the Wankhede as Hardik Pandya, the new MI skipper, got a passionate booing from the Wankhede crowd.
Rohit Sharma could have lit up the crowd, however, the former MI captain bagged a golden duck against his nemesis Trent Boult. Sharma already had a negative match-up against Boult, who this time got the opener with an outswinger. It was a clever tactic from the Kiwi pacer to send one away-going delivery to Sharma, who seemed to have been watchful for the inswinger.
The ball pitched in line and moved away. Rohit had a slight poke at it and it was enough for the ball to take the outside edge of his bat. Sanju Samson, the Rajasthan Royals captain and wicket-keeper, took an excellent catch while diving to his right.
Samson, Trent Boult, and the RR players were fired up with Rohit Sharma’s wicket as the opener walked back to the dressing room amid stunned silence from the Wankhede crowd.
Rohit’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, who was sitting in the stands had a look of shock and sad as Sharma couldn’t buy a run.
