Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan can’t keep himself away from controversies, and this one is quite a serious one as it involved him getting physical with a man.
During a recent political rally that he participated in, Shakib Al Hasan was videoed slapping a fan angrily.
Shakib hasn’t played any form of professional cricket since the World Cup 2023 as he decided to enter politics while still being an active international cricket. The all-rounder is contesting in Bangladesh’s parliamentary elections with the ruling Awami League. He stood in the election from the Magura-1 constituency, which is his home district.
In a video uploaded by DESH TV, Shakib Al Hasan can be seen slapping a fan with his full strength and frustration. In the video, Shakib is surrounded by many fans – of him and the followers of his political party. This enraged the 36-year-old cricketer and he hurled a powerful slap at a man who had grabbed Shakib’s hand. With Shakib slapping one man, others, too, moved a distance away from him.

The most prominent and powerful Bangladeshi cricketer, Shakib is well-known for his short temper and has, throughout his career, gotten himself involved in controversies due to his anger and the consequent actions. This incident is simply an addition to a long list of quarrels that he’s been involved in.
Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan is recovering from a finger injury that he had suffered during Bangladesh’s World Cup encounter against Sri Lanka on November 6. He missed the home Test series against Bangladesh due to this injury, although it’s unsure had he made himself available because the Test series clashed with his election campaign.
