After the IPL 2024 match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on March 25, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli had a heartwarming video call with his wife Anushka Sharma and their children – Vamika and Akaay. The adorable moment quickly went viral across social media.

The game between Faf du Plessis’ team and Shikhar Dhawan’s squad took place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where the home team, RCB, won by 4 wickets. RCB bowled first, limiting PBKS to 176/6 in 20 overs. Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell claimed two wickets each, while Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph took one each.

Chasing the target, Virat Kohli showcased his expertise in chasing down scores by scoring a remarkable 77 runs off 49 balls. Although it seemed like his effort might not be enough, Dinesh Karthik ensured that wasn’t the case.

Karthik, along with Mahipal Lomror, guided Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to victory. Karthik displayed his prowess under pressure, attacking the Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowlers in the final overs to secure the win for his team.

After the match, fans noticed Virat Kohli engaged in a video call, seemingly with his family members Anushka Sharma, Vamika, and Akaay. Kohli’s animated chat, filled with funny gestures, indicated his interaction with his loved ones. He even blew a flying kiss to them before concluding the call.

After winning the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance against the Punjab Kings, Virat Kohli expressed his gratitude towards his fans. He mentioned that he always aims to create memorable moments during matches and appreciates the love and support he receives from his supporters. He said:

“It’s been going on for years (love story with fans at Chinnaswamy). People talk about a lot of other things when you play sport – achievement, stats, numbers. But when you look back it’s the memories you create. The love, appreciation and backing I’ve received has been amazing.”

Virat Kohli described spending time with his family as a surreal experience, emphasizing the significance of being able to enjoy ordinary moments as an everyday person. He added:

“Just to feel normal for two months – for me, my family – it was a surreal experience. Couldn’t have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with the family. It’s an amazing experience to just be another person on the road and not be recognised. That’s the promise I can give here – I’ll keep turning up and keep trying me best.”
