Virender Sehwag Talked About MS Dhoni Calling Him A ‘Slow-Fielder’: The Indian cricket team is currently riding high with the back-to-back successes as team India is performing to their best whenever an opportunity is knocking their doors. With all the players giving their best and leaving a mark at the moment, the selection committee is finding really hard to give the opportunity to everyone.
Recently, Rishabh Pant was benched and was replaced by KL Rahul in the team as a new wicket-keeper batsman. Though picking KL Rahul over Rishabh Pant turned out to be in favor of the Indian cricket team, but former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag feels that Rishabh Pant should have been given more chances. He said:
“Rishabh Pant has been left out how will he score runs? If you bench Sachin Tendulkar also, even he won’t score runs. If you feel he’s the match-winner why don’t you play him? Because he’s not consistent?”
He opened up about how during his time the captain used to go and talk to the players. Comparing his captaincy with Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, he said:
“During our time, the captain used to go and talk with the player (in question). Now I don’t know if Virat Kohli does the same or not. I am not part of the team setup. But people say that when Rohit Sharma went to Asia Cup as captain, he used to talk to all the players.”
Virender Sehwag also opened up about the controversial statement from MS Dhoni, where he termed Sehwag as a slow fielder in the press conference before letting him know at the meeting. He said:
“When MS Dhoni said in Australia that the top three are slow fielders, we were never asked or consulted. We got to know from the media. He said at the press conference but not at the team meeting that we are slow fielders. Talk at the team meeting was that we need to play Rohit Sharma who is new and that’s why there will be rotation policy. If the same is happening now, that’s wrong,”
Rishabh Pant gained fame after his swashbuckling performances in the IPL and playing some crucial knocks for Team India. He replaced MS Dhoni as the wicket-keeper for Team India, however, recently he was under the scanner for his poor performances as a wicket-keeper and batsman both.
