RCB opener Virat Kohli was dismissed via a spectacular combination catch by Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra in the CSK vs RCB match of IPL 2024 on Friday.
The IPL 2024 got underway on Friday evening at Chepauk in Chennai and CSK dominated the majority of the proceedings with the ball after Faf du Plessis, the RCB skipper, elected to bowl first.
RCB collapsed from, 41/0 to 42/3, before losing Virat Kohli at the team score of 77. Virat Kohli scored 21 runs in 20 balls and his dismissal was a huge loss for the visitors. It cam through a sensational effort from Rahane, the veteran who is 35 years of age, and Rachin Ravindra, who made his CSK debut in the absence of Devon Conway.
On the second ball of the 12th over of RCB’s innings, Kohli moved across the off-stump for a heave on the leg-side. Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman bowled a short delivery and Kohli couldn’t get an entirely good connection.
The ball on the legside where at deep mid-wicket Rahane covered a considerable distance – making a good sprint even at his age. He grabbed the ball and put in a slide, but as he got near the boundary ropes, Rahane lapped the ball to Rachin, who was at the right position at the right time to complete a brilliant relay catch.
