Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was left shellshocked seeing Riyan Parag’s stunning pull shot six against Anrich Nortje, who is one of the fastest bowlers in the world.
Riyan Parag made his best IPL score, of 84 runs, on Thursday evening against Delhi Capitals in Jaipur. Parag, who has been promoted to number 4 this season by the Rajasthan Royals, is starting to repay the faith the franchise had invested him in all these years, having made his IPL debut back in 2019.
In only two innings in IPL 2024, Riyan Parag has scored more runs than he did in the entire season last year.
After his innings of 43 (29) against Lucknow Super Giants, Parag scored 84* (45) against Delhi, after RR were in early trouble at 36/3 and then 90/4. Parag’s innings was the reason that RR reached a total of 185. He hit 7 fours and 6 sixes in his terrific innings.
He ended the innings with a stunning, jaw-dropping pull-shot six to Anrich Nortje on the second-last ball of RR’s innings. Such terrific was the shot – the bat swing and the sound it made off the bat – that it even left Rishabh Pant astonished.

Rajasthan Royals won the match by 13 runs, recording their second win in as many matches in the tournament.
Speaking during the mid-innings break, Riyan Parag said, “I have put in a lot of practice, I’ve practised against those kind of (bowling of Nortje). I had my options ready for both sides of the wicket – I was backing mys strengths, I know I had the power, it’s good when it comes off. Sanju bhai told me to take it deep, I was confident that I could get a lot of runs. It wasn’t easy for a new batter to come and score, you needed someone to stay until the end. It’s been tough, I’m a bit emotional now, I have worked hard and seeing the fruits of it now.”
