Veteran keeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha was in sensational form during Gujarat Titans’ massive 56-run victory against Lucknow Super Giants in Match number 51 of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Saha slammed a stunning knock of 81 runs off 43 balls to help Gujarat Titans post a total of 227/2 in 20 overs. He built a brilliant opening partnership with Shubman Gill.
GT got 78 runs in the powerplay while the rival bowling unit could hardly control the carnage by GT batters. The duo added 100 runs for the first wicket off just 50 balls. But soon, Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed after an impressive inning of 81 off 43 balls, however, Gill continued to remain in complete command. Shubman Gill played a stunning knock of 94 runs off 51 balls while smashing 7 sixes and 2 fours.
Later, chasing a target of 228 runs, Lucknow Super Giants were restricted to 171/7 in 20 overs, thanks to a four-wicket haul by Mohit Sharma.
Wriddhiman Saha Wore The Trousers Other Way Around
Meanwhile, a hilarious incident took place during the break session before the second innings. GT tried to substitute KS Bharat as the keeper instead of Saha but the umpires didn’t permit it. So Saha had to hurry and return to the field but he had had his trousers worn the other way around. Reacting to Saha’s mistake, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami, and De Kock couldn’t control their laughter and it was caught on camera.
Later, after the match, Saha explained the reason behind the incident. Bharat asked Saha: “I told the umpires that you are having the needling session, but they didn’t allow me to keep”,
Saha revealed: “I was eating my food and the physio said I need to take my medicine too. So I had to wear my pants in a hurry and it was worn the other way around. After two overs I returned and you did a wonderful job”,
