Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently enjoying the best time of his life as he has earned his maiden Test call for the upcoming Test series against West Indies. The southpaw is likely to replace Cheteshwar Pujara at number three in the batting order.
For the unversed, Jaiswal’s consistent performances in the domestic tournament and his sensational run in the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League helped him earn a call from the BCCI for the upcoming series.
Jaiswal was Rajasthan’s best batter during the campaign. The left-handed opener amassed 625 runs during IPL 2023 at an average of 48.08 and also scored the fastest fifty in the history of the tournament. His stint included five fifties and a hundred in the 1000th IPL game against Mumbai Indians.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Revealed MS Dhoni’s Advice That Helped Him

Meanwhile, recently in an interview with The Indian Express, Jaiswal spoke about meeting his idol MS Dhoni for the first time and interacting with him after his recent success in IPL 2023. Jaiswal recalled Dhoni’s words of advice for the young opener to keep his mind at peace and keep faith in himself. He said:
“It was a great moment in my life. It was the first time I had seen Dhoni up close. I tried in the middle of games to have a conversation with him. He told me to keep playing cricketing shots and keep faith in myself and to keep my mind at peace. These are simple things but they are very difficult to do in real life. You need a lot of patience,”
Further, Yashasvi Jaiswal spoke about how he wants to stay humble and grounded and not think too much about the praise and the accolades he has been receiving off-lately. He said:
“I only think about what I should do. I don’t think much about other things. If there are few things that would enhance my cricket, then I would do it. I respect the game, and I feel blessed that I am doing something which I have always dreamt of. And if I am able to entertain and spread happiness with my skills, that’s great,”
The Indian cricket team will be traveling to West Indies for the upcoming Two Test matches, three ODIs, and 5 T20Is, starting from July 12th. The Test series will kickstart India’s next World Test Championship cycle.
