AB de Villiers Compared This 19-Year-Old Batter To Suryakumar Yadav: Suryakumar Yadav’s rise in international cricket is inspirational. Ever since he made his debut in 2021, he has entertained the fans with his batting performances and has impressed one and all with his innovative shots, something that reminds everyone of South Africa’s batting superstar — AB de Villiers.
It won’t be wrong to say that SKY has taken his place as the new Mr. 360 degree. The 32-year-old Indian currently sits at the No. 1 position in the ICC T20I batter’s ranking.
All thanks to his similar aggressive style, Surya is often compared to the former South African cricketer. However, according to AB de Villiers, a 19-year-old batter has shades of Surya in him.
Yes, you read that right. And the young batter is none other than Devilliers’ own countryman and former U-19 World Cup star Dewald Brevis. Surya and Brevis also share the dressing room at the Mumbai Indians during the Indian Premier League.
AB de Villiers Compared Dewald Brevis To Suryakumar Yadav

In his blog for Betway, AB de Villiers praised the young star, who is lovingly called “Baby AB,” and stated Brevis has displayed traits that are similar to those of Suryakumar. He wrote:
“There are certainly similarities in the way that they approach the game. They’re both really aggressive, they want to take the bowlers on, and they don’t let the bowlers settle. Dewald is obviously a lot younger and still has a lot to learn, whereas SKY is more experienced these days. He come a long way having performed well for the Mumbai Indians at the IPL. But they both excite me a lot,”
Taking about Baby AB, he made his debut in the Indian Premier League after he was signed for INR 3 crore by the 5-time IPL winners in the mega-auction. In his debut season for Mumbai Indians, he played in 7 games, in which he scored 161 runs at an average of 23.00 and a strike rate of 142.47.
