Injuries are hitting Indian cricket severely as now two promising left-arm fast bowlers – Mukesh Choudhary (CSK) and Moshin Khan (LSG) – are injured ahead of the start of IPL 2023, with Choudhary all but confirmed to miss the entire tournament that will kick-start on March 31 with Chennai Super Kings taking on defending champions Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.

Fans had been excited at the prospect of seeing Deepak Chahar bowl in tandem with the new ball for CSK – Chahar returns after missing the Indian Premier League 2022, where he made his debut and was more than just impressive with the new ball.

However, that excitement and anticipation have been busted after Cricbuzz reported that Choudhary, who took 16 wickets last season in 13 matches, is still at the NCA, rehabbing his back injury.

CSK “do not have much hope” of Mukesh Choudhary getting fit for IPL 2023

Kasi Viswanathan, Chennai based franchise’s CEO, told Cricbuzz: “We are waiting on Mukesh but we do not have much hope. He was one of our bowling mainstays last year. It will be unfortunate if he misses out.”

With his swing and movement up front, and his temperament of bowling to some of the best T20 top-order batters, Mukesh Choudhary had left a good impression on the fans. After an impressive IPL season, he played a few List A games for home state Maharashtra but has been out of action since December.

Chennai Super Kings have already been given an injury blow when Kyle Jamieson was ruled out and replaced by South Africa’s Sisanda Magala.

CSK squad for IPL 2023:

MS Dhoni (C), Ravindra Jadeja, Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ambati Rayudu, Subhranshu Senapati, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwaine Pretorius, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Mukesh Choudhary, Matheesha Pathirana, Simarjeet Singh, Prashant Solanki, Maheesh Theekshana, Ajinkya Rahane, Ben Stokes, Shaik Rasheed, Nishant Sindhu, Kyle Jamieson, Ajay Mandal, Bhagath Varma, Sisanda Magala

24-year-old LSG Speedster, who was potent with his hit-the-deck bowling, generating plenty of seam movement off the pitch and also bounce due to his height, has been out of action since the IPL 2022, where he snapped up 14 wickets in 9 matches and maintained a terrific economy of 5.96, and being a crucial cog in Lucknow Super Giants reaching the playoffs in their debut season.

Mohsin Khan
“Moshin is currently practising with the franchise in Lucknow with the hope to be part of the season at some stage but LSG officials were not willing to make a prediction about whether or not he will be in a position to take the field,” a Cricbuzz report added.

The Uttar Pradesh fast bowler didn’t play a single domestic game since the last IPL.
