Remember, the good old days of ‘gully cricket’? recently the game between Australia and New Zealand made everyone remember Gully cricket. Well, the outbreak of Coronavirus has left the whole world in a state of panic and chaos. As the World Health Organization recently declared COVID-19 a pandemic, sporting events are being played behind the close doors in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Well, what happened was during the first ODI match between Australia vs New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday. The viewers had no other choice than to just have their eyes glued onto their television sets and smartphones as the game was played behind the closed doors without a single spectator in attendance.
And the direct effect of having no spectator in attendance was experienced by Lockie Ferguson when he had to climb up the stands looking out for the ball after the ball was smashed by Aussie captain Aaron Finch for a maximum off Ish Sodhi’s delivery during the 19th over of the first innings played by the Australian cricket team.
As there were no spectators on-field to pass on the ball, Lockie had no other option than to climb the stand to fetch out the ball. Videos and gif of the same has been making rounds on Twitter, leaving everyone in splits.
Here, watch the video of the same:

“The things you have to worry about as an international cricketer these days – fetch the ball if it’s been hit for a six into the stands off your teammate. These are truly crazy times.”
