In a few weeks, Bairstow will be fully recovered from his leg and ankle injuries, but the ECB does not want to jeopardise his fitness ahead of the Ashes and ODI World Cup, which will take place later this year.
Jonny Bairstow, an English batsman, will not play in the IPL 2023 since the English and England Cricket Board (ECB) declined to provide him a NOC to compete in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League, which begins on March 31 in Ahmedabad. Punjab Kings, who spent Rs 6.75 crore at the auction last year, will be severely hurt by this. Liam Livingstone, an all-around power hitter, and Sam Curran have been cleared by the ECB and will play in the championship, which is wonderful news for them. The most expensive player in the IPL, Curran, was purchased by PBKS in the most recent auction for a price of Rs 18.50 crore.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2023 will not feature Bairstow because he broke his leg and ankle in October of last year. He underwent surgery for the same reason, and it took roughly six months of therapy to get him back in shape. Punjab based franchise believed that if Bairstow recovered completely, their team would be more fortified. Nevertheless, according to Cricbuzz, the ECB has declined to grant the NOC needed for international players from their national cricket boards to compete in franchise events throughout the globe.

As the Ashes and ODI World Cup are later this year, the ECB does not want to compromise Bairstow’s fitness even though he will be fully recovered from his leg and ankle injuries in a few weeks.
A knee and ankle injury to Livingstone occurred during England’s Test tour of Pakistan in December. But, according to the same report, PBKS, who purchased him for a total of Rs 11.50 crore, will be entitled to purchase him. Curran, an all-around player, will also be going back to Punjab this year.
Ben Stokes, Mark Wood, and Jofra Archer are other England starters who have moreover declared their involvement in the Indian Premier League 2023.
