Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian opener, who made his comeback in the T20 yesterday with the Second T20i against Sri Lanka failed to deliver in yet another T20. Shikhar Dhawan was seen struggling with the strike rate again.
While Shikhar Dhawan could only manage a strike rate of 100, his fellow partner KL Rahul was striking at 173 in the powerplay.
KL Rahul has been in a stunning form lately, the cricketer is giving back-to-back brilliant performances in the shortest format of the game. In 9 innings KL Rahul has scored 356 runs in 9 innings with an impressive strike rate of 142.40.
On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan has been struggling a lot with his strike-rate for a long time. In his last 12 T20i innings, Dhawan scored 356 runs in 9 innings with a strike rate of 110.56.
Considering the performance of both the openers, the former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir stressed that the team needs to look beyond Shikhar Dhawan now. Gautam Gambhir said that Shikhar Dhawan has not really been able to leave an impact in the shortest format of the game like he has done in one-day cricket.
Talking about the same, Gautam Gambhir said:
“In one-day cricket, not in T20 cricket,”
He added:
“He has not done a lot in T20 cricket if you see the entire stat. I am not a big believer in number and stats he has not had that impact, the kind of impact that people like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul has had on T20 format. So probably, India needs to look beyond Shikhar Dhawan”
Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets to take a lead in the ongoing three-match series.
