At the toss during Monday’s WPL 2023 game, between Mumbai Indians the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur made a cheeky remark at her counterpart, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana, about the latter being a bit luckier in terms of the coin toss after Kaur lost another toss.
Harmanpreet Kaur has gained a reputation for being unlucky at the coin toss, earlier for India and now she’s lost both the tosses in the WPL 2023 so far. Even her India teammates and commentators have chuckled at this thing in the past that Kaur just loses more tosses than she wins.
Mandhana, Kaur’s deputy in the national team, won the toss and elected to bat first at the Brabourne.

When asked about this event, Kaur had a smile on her face, saying that Smriti is simply luckier than her regarding the toss.
After Mandhana won the toss, she shared a smile with Harmanpreet Kaur.

Speaking at the toss, the MI captain Kaur said: “Smriti is little luckier than me (with the toss). We wanted to bowl first and we got that. We have the confidence in our bowling unit and that’s why we wanted to bowl today. We are going with the same XI.”
Mandhana said: “We would like to bat first. It is looks like a good wicket to bat on and chasing builds pressure. We had a chat in the meeting that thinking about totals would not help, we have to play to our strengths and we will get the big total. One of the top four batters has to bat deep and if we can do that then we will post good totals. One change for us.”
Speaking about the match, both the teams had contrasting starts to their WPL 2023 campaigns: Kaur’s side hammered Gujarat Giants in the tournament opener by a massive margin of 143 runs, led by their captain’s sensational knock; Mandhana’s team suffered a 60-run big defeat against Delhi Capitals in their first match.
