Former England captain and well known cricket commentator, Michael Vaughan picked his ‘Dream Champions Trophy 2017 XI’ in collaboration with The Telegraph ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Vaughan picked only one Indian cricket (Virat Kohli) in his dream XI. Vaughan picked a very well balanced side but, interestingly, he didn’t pick Australian captain Steve Smith who is in spectacular form.

On Virat Kohli’s ordinary record in England, Vaughan wrote, “I know his (Kohli’s) record in England is not great but he is a better player than when he came here last time and like AB de Villiers he can play any kind of innings – explosive or a rebuild job. (He) copes brilliantly with pressure.”

Vaughan compared South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman to Aussie great Adam Gilchrist. Vaughan wrote, “He is the closest the modern game has to Adam Gilchrist. De Kock has that effortless ability to strike the boundary early without playing risky strokes. He is great on the front and back foot and he keeps it very simple.”
