New Zealand’s domestic T20 competition, Super Smash, has been going on in full swing. It has been no less than entertainment for cricket fans. On Sunday, the 22nd match took place between Canterbury and Northern Knights, which turned out to be one of the most thrilling matches in the tournament so far.
Leo Carter, the Canterbury batsman’s powerful performance kept everyone on the edge of their seats. He smashed the opposition bowler Anton Devcich for six sixes in an over to create a record. It was the first such instance in the history of the Super Smash tournament.
The six-sixes came off when Canterbury was three down and needed 64 runs off the last five overs. McConchie along with Leo Carter was there in the middle trying to bring back the much-needed momentum in their performance. The ball was handed over to Devcich in order to save some runs, but what happened next was absolute brilliance.
Leo Carter made everyone sit on the edge of their seats as he put on an exhibition of hitting during the over.
Leo Carter’s unbeaten knock of 70 off just 29 balls, helped his team chase a total of 220. During his knock, he smashed three fours and seven sixes.
Besides Leo Carter, the skipper of Canterbury — McConchie also played a vital knock scoring 49* off just 25 balls as Canterbury gun down 220 registering a much-needed win in the competition.
