However, the journey wasn’t an easy one but our King Kohli didn’t stop and with his determination and will, he is what he is today. And as he turned 31-years-old today, the BCCI took to Twitter to post the clip of the match where he scored his first-ever century in international cricket.
Well, Virat’s first-ever century came against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in December 2009. During that match, Virat had scored 107 runs and formed an amazing partnership with former cricketer Gautam Gambhir to help India chase down 315 under lights.
Impressed by his performance, Gautam Gambhir had handed over his own Man of the Match award to King Kohli because he was too good.
Sharing the video, BCCI wrote:
“As #TeamIndia Captain @imVkohli turns 31, we take a look back at his maiden ODI hundred and where it all started for the Run Machine. #HappyBirthdayVirat ??? ”
