Virat Kohli continues to rule social media and the hearts of his billions of fans across the world as the 34-year-old Indian superstar cricketer has been named the most searched Asian personality of 2023.
He beat music icons BTS’s JungKook and BTS’s V this year, and he also surpassed Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif who was the ‘Most Searched Asian Worldwide 2022’ as listed by Google last year.
Virat Kohli beats BTS group members on Google searches

K-pop mega-star BTS’ V had claimed the crown for the most searched Asian on Google during the first half of 2023, in the list revealed in June. But Virat Kohli, hailed as ‘KING’ Kohli by his fans, has now snatched that title from ‘BTS’ V for being the most searched Asian celebrity on Google so far in 2023.
This data, reportedly derived from Google Trends, put Virat Kohli on the top of the pedestal among the icons and famous names in Asia. This further shows Kohli’s craze and fandom among his fans, ranging from all ages and countries across the world.
Most searched Asians on Google in 2023:
1) Virat Kohli
2) BTS’s JungKook
3) BTS’s V
This rise of Kohli in the Google Trends recently must have it to do with his bumper century against Pakistan in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2023. That ton was Kohli’s 47th ODI century, which now brings him just 2 centuries behind to the tally of Sachin Tendulkar‘s 49 ODI hundreds.
The Delhi-born cricketer now has 77 international centuries, still 23 away from Tendulkar’s record of 100 international hundreds.
Talking about the Asia Cup 2023, Kohli didn’t get to bat in the final against Sri Lanka, as the Indian openers, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, chased down the small total of 51-run target with ease after Mohammed Siraj had run through the Lankan batting-order with his figures of 6/21.
Siraj’s monumental effort in the final helped India clinch their 8th Asia Cup trophy.
Kohli and India’s next assignment will be the 3-ODI series against Australia at home, starting September 22.
