[Watch] England's Barmy Army Fans Troll Rohit Sharma With 'Bye Bye Rohit' Song After Dismissal In Ranchi Test

India captain Rohit Sharma became wicket number 697 for England pacer James Anderson on Saturday as the veteran seamer had the right-hander nicking through to Ben Foakes in Ranchi.

Rohit Sharma, who had hit a brilliant century in Rajkot, couldn’t carry on his form from the third Test and was dismissed for only 2 runs in the fourth Test at the JSCA international stadium in Ranchi. The Indian skipper got a hilarious send-off from England’s Barmy Army fans in the stand who sang a “bye bye Rohit” song to see off the opener.

It was a typical James Anderson wicket. The new ball swung in a little and held on its line after pitching. Rohit Sharma, making no feet movement, hung his bat outside the off-stump only to see the ball kiss the outside edge of his bat through to wicketkeeper Ben Foakes. The England players and their supporters in the stand erupted while the Indian fans in the stadium were left in shock.

As Rohit Sharma walked off, the Barmy Army fans sent him off with a song.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hits another fifty

After Rohit’s dismissal, youngster Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal forged a brilliant partnership of 82 runs. Both looked comfortable and both hit a few boundaries. But Gill got out for 38 runs after seeming very solid, dismissed by Shoaib Bashir.

Jaiswal, though, remained steadfast and reached another half-century. This is his fourth fifty-plus score of the series and he’s closing in on 600 runs in the series. The left-hander smashed 5 fours and a six in his unbeaten innings so far as India have given a strong reply to England’s 353-run total. Joining Jaiswal in the middle ahead of the Tea break is Rajat Patidar, for whom this is a very important innings after failures in the previous Test.
