Whether it’s on the cricket field or playing in gully cricket with his friends, Suryakumar Yadav continues to relish playing his extraordinary range of strokes.
In a recent video uploaded by his IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav can be seen playing his trademark “Supla shot” and entertaining the kids and fans in the streets.
The world number 1 ranked ICC T20I batsman, Suryakumar Yadav flew back to home city of Mumbai in the gap between the Test matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 series.
The 32-year-old India batsman took some time to have fun in street cricket with plastic stumps, an ordinary kid’s bat, and tennis ball. Suryakumar Yadav can be seen smiling with childlike joy as his plays his famous “Supla” shot – he bends low and ramps the ball behind square on the leg side to a loud cheer from the onlookers standing nearby.

While he’s been India’s best batter in T20I in the past couple of years, Yadav hasn’t been able to crack the longer formats.
He recently made his Test debut, against Australia in the first Test of the series in Nagpur. However, the right-hander managed only 8 runs. When Shreyas Iyer returned after recovering from his injury, Suryakumar was left out of the XI and he was benched for the next two Tests.
Yadav is unlikely to play in the 4th Test against Australia, which will start on March 9 in Ahmedabad.
After the Test series, SKY will feature in the ODIs against Australia. India want him to have some success in the ODIs as they build their team for the home World Cup. But so far, Suryakumar Yadav hasn’t taken the ODI format to the storm as he did in T20Is. In 20 ODIs, he averages only 28 with 2 fifties.
He will then be seen lighting up the IPL 2023 for Mumbai Indians. MI will kick-start their IPL campaign against RCB on April 2 in Bangalore.
