IPL has just begun and so have the controversy. The internet has divided into two parts after batting legend Sunil Gavaskar talked about Virat’s performance during a match between RCB and KXIP.
He was heard making a remark on Anushka Sharma after Virat failed to showcase his batting abilities in the display. He had said:
“Aur jo lockdown tha, sirf Anushka ki bowling ki practise ki unhone”, (he has only faced Anushka’s bowling in lockdown)”
The comments were blown out of a proportion and were misunderstood as Sunil Gavaskar was referring to a video of Virushka that went viral during the lockdown phase in India. In the video, Anushka was seen bowling to Virat Kohli.
Gavaskar’s comment didn’t go down well with the fans of the actress who slammed the batting legend left, right, and center. Anushka Sharma too posted a long story slamming Sunil Gavaskar for dragging her name unnecessarily during a match.

Meanwhile, former all-rounder, Irfan Pathan has now come out in support of Sunil Gavaskar. Irfan Pathan took to his twitter and posted a message for those who are criticizing the former cricketer.
In his tweet, he posted advice for the ones flooding the social media with messages slamming and calling out on the legendary cricketer over his remark. He wrote:
“Always respect #SunilGavaskar sir always”

Earlier in the day, Sunil Gavaskar had responded to the controversy. In an interview with India Today, Sunil Gavaskar cleared the air that he was only talking about the viral video of Virushka where Anushka can be seen bowling to Virat. He said:
“Where am I blaming her? Where am I being sexist in this? I am just stating what was seen in the video which was maybe recorded by somebody in the neighboring buildings and then put up. Virat also had no practice and the only practice that they had was when they were seen them playing in their building compound and Anushka was bowling to him. That’s what I said.”
He added:
“Where am I blaming her for Virat’s failures? I am only saying that the video said that she was bowling to Virat,”
