Video: Rahul Tewatia Took An Unbelievable Catch In IPL 2023

In the seventh match of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL), played on Tuesday, April 4, Delhi Capitals struggled to 70/4 in nine overs due to the dominance of the pacers from Gujarat Titans. Both Mohammed Shami and Alzarri Joseph took two wickets off the swinging and bouncing pitch in Delhi.

Shami added to the early pressure on the Capitals by picking up the early wickets of Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh, before the West Indies pacer excelled with the big wickets of David Warner (who was looking dangerous at 37 off 32) and Rilee Rossouw. However, the credit for Rossouw’s dismissal should go to Rahul Tewatia for his outstanding effort in the field.

A shoulder-high bouncer from Alzarri caught Rossouw off guard. The throw was deflected to a pinpoint area, where Tewatia made a spectacular diving catch.

There was some debate about whether or not the ball actually touched the ground before Rahul Tewatia wrapped his fingers around it, so the third umpire reviewed the catch to make sure.

Delhi Capitals lost their fourth wicket in only nine overs when Rossouw was dismissed for a golden duck. Both Shami and Joshua Little were superb in their first overs, with the former getting rid of Shaw for seven runs thanks to an easy catch by Alzarri at mid-on.

In Shami’s third over, bowled by Hardik Pandya, the big wicket of Marsh was taken by the Indian veteran. Warner, after a slow start, picked up the pace of his innings and put together a 30-run partnership with Sarfaraz Khan for the third wicket. In Alazarri’s first over, he hit the bowler for two consecutive boundaries.

In his second over, however, the Caribbean bowled out Warner with a vicious delivery that gave him the last laugh. Warner’s impressive innings came to an end when a ball travelling at 145.5 kph took a heavy inside edge and crashed into the stumps.

Capitals star South African pacer Anrich Nortje replaced Rovman Powell after the team’s season-opening loss to the Lucknow Super Giants. Abishek Porel, a wicketkeeper who can also bat, came in for Khaleel Ahmed, who was supposed to be an impact player in the field.
