Andre Russell will be in action on Sunday evening when the Kolkata Knight Riders host the Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Andre Russell is having an ordinary tournament, by his standards, in the IPL 2023.

The big Jamaican has scored 98 runs in 6 innings at an average of 24 and a strike rate of 140 – something which he’d like to improve upon. He has bowled only 4.1 overs so far, but picked up 3 wickets, however, he’s been expensive, leaking at more than 12 runs an over.

Ahead of the mouth-watering clash against MS Dhoni‘s CSK, Russell posted an emotional message on his Instagram from the team bus.

Taking to Instagram stories, Russell wrote: “In this life When people give up on you remember this don’t give up on you! god is good,” Russell wrote in the caption of his Instagram story.

Here, check out Andre Russell’s emotional Insta story:

As this post from Russell has gone viral, it is yet unclear as to whom it was intended to.

Meanwhile, Nitish Rana has won the toss in Kolkata and Kolkata Knight Riders have opted to field. KKR have made two changes from their loss to the Delhi Capitals: David Wiese comes in for Liton Das and N Jagadeesan replaced Mandeep Singh.

Rana said: “Would like to bowl. Looks a good pitch. Will be better to chase if dew comes. If we can click in all three departments, result will be in our favour. Two changes – Wiese in for Litton. Jagadeesan in for Mandeep.”

MS Dhoni said: “Would’ve bowled first as well. Players have grown in confidence, especially the bowling department. What is important is for everyone to contribute. Take that one good catch, one good run out. I have played a lot of cricket over here. I had a job at Kharagpur which was two hours from here. The love comes from there.”
