England’s Ashes campaign has suffered a major blow with star fast-bowler Jimmy Anderson ruled out of the fourth Test due to a side strain. Anderson will also miss the remainder of the third Test at Edgbaston, which continues tonight.
James Anderson, who is one of the best swing bowlers in world cricket, sparked a dramatic Australian batting collapse on Wednesday when he took six wickets. Anderson ran through the Aussies batting line-up and the tourists had no answer to his swing-masterclass.
James Anderson’s absence from the fourth Test at Trent Bridge, starting on Thursday, is a big boost for Australia given his good form and impressive record at the Nottingham ground. Anderson has taken 53 wickets in eight Tests at the ground, including 10 for the match against Australia two years ago.
The fourth Test begins on Thursday, 6 August with the fifth Test on 20 August at the Oval.
The series is currently tied 1-1.
