VIDEO: Axar Patel Gives Epic Sendoff To Kyle Mayers

After bossing T20 cricket around the making his name, Kyle Mayers got his first chance in the IPL, on Saturday, for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2023, and what a knock he played to make an impression in the biggest T20 league in the world.

The West Indies left-handed opener got an opportunity in LSG’s first match of the season against Delhi Capitals, in the absence of Quinton de Kock who is on national duty currently, and played a belligerent knock of 73 runs off 38 balls, cracking 7 sixes and 2 fours on a pitch in Lucknow that offered assistance to the bowlers as the match progressed.

And it needed a special, almost unplayable delivery from Axar Patel to halt Kyle Mayers’ stunning assault of the DC bowlers.

It was a really difficult delivery to handle because it turned huge to topple Mayers’ off-stump.

From around the wicket angle, Axar darted this one on length on the off-side. Pitching just outside Kyle Mayers’ off-stump, the ball held in the surface, grips, and turned sharply – instead of going on with the angle, and turning little as it generally would do with that sort of angle – to straighten and came in a little. Mayers was going for the big swing, but was left bamboozled with the ball straightening after pitching and missed his shot completely to be dismissed bowled.

Axar Patel gave out a huge, guttural scream, letting Mayers and everyone know that he’s dismissed the batter that was on song.
