IPL 2022: Fans React After Jasprit Bumrah Dismissed Prithvi Shaw With A Vicious Bouncer

Jasprit Bumrah found his mojo back in the last few games of the IPL 2022 albeit too late for the Mumbai Indians who were the first team to be eliminated from the playoff race.

Jasprit Bumrah took a five-wicket haul – his first in the IPL – vs KKR, followed by figures of 1/12 vs CSK, and 1/32 vs SRH.

In MI’s last league game, at their home ground Wankhede Stadium, Bumrah once again cranked up the heat finishing with brilliant figures of 3/25 against the Delhi Capitals. He got rid of Mitchell Marsh, Prithvi Shaw and Rovman Powell, playing a significant role in restricting DC to 159.

He first had Mitchell Marsh, for a duck, the Australian edging a full delivery to Rohit Sharma at first slip.

Then, Prithvi Shaw’s dismissal came via a brute of a delivery, unplayable for the opener, rendering him unable to even see the ball as he only managed a glove to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.

A bouncer from Bumrah pitched well outside off but came in with the angle into Shaw, who was already on his leg stump guard and found the ball right into the line of his head. Shaw managed to pull out his head from the firing line. However, he couldn’t get his gloves away from the body and the ball thudded his glove and lobbed up and soon the batsman fell down to the ground. Kishan came forward and took a good diving catch.

Relieved!

Jasprit Bumrah now has 15 wickets and sub-8 Economy Rate in every IPL season since 2016 – that’s 7 seasons in a row! 🤌🤌

No IPL player has ever had this consistency.

He then returned in the death overs to castle out Rovman Powell with a vintage Bumrah yorker as Powell missed his slog.

After the innings, Bumrah said that he doesn’t care much about the statistics or the wickets column as long as he’s executing his plans to satisfaction.

“Felt good. Was clear in my execution. Tried to do nothing out of the ordinary, just tried to bowl to my plan. Good day, my plans were executed. It’s not about wickets for me,” Bumrah said.

“Whenever I am clear and I am having fun while bowling, that’s when I enjoy my bowling. Wickets are not in my hands. I got wickets today but overall feel of the bowling when I got the ball in my hands, felt good right from the word go. Of course you love taking wickets and you want to make an impact. But more than wickets I love bowling in any situation.”
