    IPL 2022: 10 Best Memes On ‘CSK vs MI’ Game

    CSK vs MI: Mumbai Indians, who were already eliminated from the playoff race, have now dragged the defending champions Chennai Super Kings out of the competition for a top-four spot with a 5-wicket win at the Wankhede.

    CSK were bowled out for only 97 as MI bowlers ran riot in the powerplay, the period in which CSK lost 5 wickets and were all but defeated then. Daniel Sams got rid of the in-form Devon Conway and Moeen Ali in the first over and then had the other CSK opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad too.

    Jasprit Bumrah sent back Robin Uthappa while Riley Meredith accounted for the dismissals of Ambati Rayudu and Shivam Dube on either side of the powerplay. Kumar Kartikeya bagged a couple of wickets for himself as MS Dhoni looked at all this from one end.

    The CSK captain took it upon himself to force the issue, whacking four boundaries and a couple of sixes but couldn’t take CSK past 100 with no support from the other end.

    Defending a lowly target of 98, and their playoff hopes, CSK pacers Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh came out all guns blazing and gave MI a taste of their own medicine. Choudhary struck thrice in the powerplay, nipping out Ishan Kishan, Daniel Sams and Tristan Stubbs while Simarjeet got the big fish Rohit Sharma, leaving MI at 34/4 at the end of the powerplay.

    Youngsters Tilak Varma and Hrithik Shokeen, however, stalled the fall of wickets, batting calmly and sensibly, rotating the strike and getting the occasional boundary. Shokeen was dismissed for 18 off 23 and until then MI were in firm control of the chase, which Tim David bustled out and completed with a couple of sixes. Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 34 off 32 playing another mature innings this season.

    Memes galore as CSK become the second team to be eliminated from the playoff race. And it was the last-placed MI who pulled CSK with them out of the tournament.
