IPL 2023: Top 5 Fastest Bowlers In History Of IPL: Over the 15 editions of the IPL, there have been only a handful of bowlers who have consistently clocked the 150 KPH marker on the speedometer. And, unsurprisingly, most of them are overseas fast bowlers.

The foreign fast bowlers and overseas all-rounders get the big bucks in the auction and where they are in heavy demand simply because of the lack of quality fast bowlers and pace-bowling all-rounders in India. In the last few years, some of the Indian youngsters have stepped up and been impressive with their pace.

The former Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Shaun Tait continues to hold the record for the fastest ball recorded in the IPL history. In 2011, playing, RR Shaun Tait bowled the fastest ball in the IPL at whose speed read 157.71 KPH.

Because of injuries and loss of form, Tait didn’t have a long IPL career: 21 matches across 4 seasons picking up 23 wickets.

Lockie Ferguson – 157.3 KPH

In IPL 2022, Lockie Ferguson bowled the second-fastest delivery ever recorded in the IPL at the speed of 157.3 KPH.

Ferguson played for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022, when the Kiwi speedster won his maiden IPL trophy. Lockie Ferguson played a significant role in GT’s maiden IPL title victory: he picked up 12 wickets in 13 matches in IPL 2022.

Umran Malik – 157 KPH

SRH fast bowler Umran Malik burst onto the scene like few Indian pacers have ever had. He clocked 150 KPH in his debut match in the IPL 2021. Then, IPL 2022 was his breakthrough season as he picked up 22 wickets, including a five-wicket haul.

In IPL 2022, Umran Malik created the record for the fastest ball bowle by an Indian ever in the IPL as he reached the 157 KPH mark.

Anrich Nortje – 156.22 KPH

When talking about pace, how can South Africa’s Anrich Nortje not come into this list. The Delhi Capitals speedster Anrich Nortje was steaming fire in IPL 2020 as he bowled a delivery of 156.22 KPH speed.

In that IPL 2020 season, with 22 wickets Anrich Nortje helped DC reach their maiden final, but lost it to MI. So far, Nortje has taken 43 wickets in 30 IPL games.

Dale Steyn – 154.40 KPH

We close out this list with the legend of all: Dale Steyn, who held the record for the fastest delivery in the IPL from 2012 to 2020, before the likes of Nortje, Ferguson and Malik came into picture.

The legendary South African fast bowler, even in the last phase of his career remained one of the deadliest in the world. In 2012, when he was playing for Deccan Chargers, Steyn produced a thunderbolt of 154.4 KPH speed.
