Vidarbha’s Yash Thakur made his IPL debut on Monday, April 3rd, for the Lucknow Super Giants against the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai.
Who is Yash Thakur?

Born in December 1998 in Kolkata, Yash Thakur is a right-arm seamer who plays domestic cricket for Vidarbha and recently made his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants. He was with Punjab Kings as a net bowler in IPL 2022 and LSG bought him for INR 45 lakh in the IPL 2023 auction.
The 24-year-old medium pacer had a decent start to his spell. While all other LSG bowlers leaked heavy runs as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway for off to a gung-ho start, Thakur conceded 15 runs in his 2 overs. He even created half a chance, getting the leading edge of Gaikwad’s bat but it fell a bit too far away from Thakur’s reach.
Yash Thakur’s domestic record and T20 stats:
Vidarbha’s Yash Thakur has got an impressive domestic record: in 13 first-class matches, he’s taken 37 wickets at an average of 25 with 5 four-wicket hauls and 1 five-fer; in 28 List-A games, he’s snared 44 wickets at 23; and in 37 T20, he’s snapped 55 wickets at only 14 with a best of 4/5.
These are really impressive numbers for a youngster.
