Pragyan Ojha Named 3 Players Who Deserve To Feature IN ODI Series Against West Indies: Having thrashed white-ball powerhouse England last week, India are set to take on the beleaguered West Indies in a 3-match ODI series, who were whitewashed by Bangladesh in Guyana last week.
However, India have named a second-string squad, to be led by Shikhar Dhawan – the all-format stars skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have all been rested and KL Rahul is recovering from an injury.
West Indies, on the other hand, have named a full-strength squad with former skipper and star all-rounder Jason Holder into the ODI eleven. The rubber will kick off on Friday at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Here is India’s squad for WI ODIs: Shikhar Dhawan (C), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Ravindra Jadeja (VC), Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh
Pragyan Ojha feels Sanju Samson should get a chance in ODIs

This ODI series gives a big opportunity for a number of Indian fringe players to make a strong claim for their places in the line-up going forward.
Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha has named three such players who he wishes to see more of against West Indies.
Deepak Hooda, who struck a T20I century last month vs Ireland, is expected to slot in the middle order. Hooda had made his ODI debut against West Indies in February at home. His good form in the IPL and vs Ireland and his handy off-spin means that he’s a likely starter in the first couple of matches.

“I wish to see more of Deepak Hooda, because he has shown a lot of promise. He has overcome a lot of hurdles in domestic cricket and made his place in the Indian team. I am curious to see how he performs. Suryakumar Yadav is a little senior, but he is still making his place in the team, I want to see how these two players do in this series,” Pragyan Ojha told Cricbuzz.
Further, Ojha has a strong liking toward the elegant and talented Sanju Samson, who has played only a single ODI – last year in Sri Lanka – and Ojha also wants to have more look of left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who made his T20I debut recently against England and shone brightly in that. Arshdeep is coming off a breakthrough IPL 2022 season where he was one of the best death bowlers.
“Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda and Arshdeep Singh are the players I want to see being given an opportunity in the series. I have been impressed with Arshdeep’s bowling, not only skill, but also the temperament with which he bowls. He has bowled well in slog overs in high-pressure matches. It would be interesting to see what mark he leaves if he is given a match to play,” Ojha added.
