Veteran Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore cricketer Dinesh Karthik has shown his full support to the Mumbai Indians in their encounter versus Delhi Capitals which will dictate RCB’s fate regarding the playoffs.
MI and DC will contest at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday evening and the last playoff spot will be finalized. The equation is simple for DC and RCB: if DC win they displace RCB at number 4 in the points table and go into the playoffs; if DC lose, Faf du Plessis‘ side will book their playoff spot.
Over the past couple of days, since RCB defeated Gujarat and reached 16 points in their last league game, RCB fans have rallied behind Rohit Sharma’s team showing their support for the five-time champions who are sitting at the 10th position and will be fighting to avoid the wooden spoon.
Even the RCB franchise’s Twitter admin changed their profile colour to blue and wrote a letter to MI, saying that the entire RCB family will be cheering for them.
#RedTurnsBlue for today! A letter to @mipaltan from RCB.
We’re backing you to #PlayBold all the way. Go get ‘em, champs!

Dinesh Karthik, who is known for his witty responses and also shared a great bond with MI captain Rohit Sharma, also posted a photo from his MI days; Karthik was with Mumbai in 2012 and 2013 and helped the franchise win their maiden title.
Karthik posted a photo of him reaching a half-century for MI, captioning it: “Found this in archives (fingers crossed and Face with Tongue emoji).”

Speaking about his performances, Karthik has been in a scintillating form this season and is once again knocking on the doors of the national selectors for a recall to India’s T20I side.
‘DK’ has scored 287 runs at an average of 57 – importantly, and noticeably, has been his strike rate of 191; for any batter with over 100 runs in the season, Karthik’s strike rate is the second-highest – only behind Tim David’s 202, but Karthik has played double the matches and scored almost double the runs than David has. With Rishabh Pant likely to be rested for the upcoming home T20I series against South Africa,
Karthik could be given a chance to write another chapter in his international career.
